What’s for Dinner? Let the App Answer with the Tonight Card
3 min read
A recipe library solves "where is that recipe?" but not the harder daily question: "what should I actually cook tonight?" Scrolling your own saved recipes at 5pm is just the fridge-stare with extra steps. The Tonight card exists to answer the question for you — one concrete, defensible suggestion, every afternoon.
One suggestion, not twenty
From the afternoon onward, a Tonight card appears in your Home feed with a single dish suggestion for dinner. It is not a random pick: the card draws on your saved recipes, your taste profile, and your cooking history, in your language. The point of showing one dish instead of a list is that a list is a decision you still have to make — one good suggestion is a decision already made.
If it misses, swap it
Not feeling it? Ask for another suggestion, or refine it — tell it what you are in the mood for and the suggestion adjusts. A miss costs one tap, and the swaps teach it what tonight actually looks like for you.
From card to cooked
Tap Cook it and you are on the recipe, one tap from cooking mode. When you cook it — whether you run a full cooking session or just log the meal to Plate — the card knows the loop closed. Over time, Tonight becomes a quiet rhythm: the app proposes, you cook, dinner stops being a negotiation.
- Keep saving recipes you genuinely want to eat — the suggestions come from your own taste.
- Use refine on busy days: "something fast" is a legitimate instruction.
- Update to the latest app version if you do not see the card yet.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the suggestion come from?
From you, mostly — your saved recipes, taste profile, and cooking history, in your app language. It is personalization, not advertising: nobody pays to be your dinner.
What if I do not see the Tonight card?
The card appears in the Home feed from the afternoon onward and requires a recent app version — update the app if it has not shown up.
